That time I forgot to blog for two months

I’m not really sure what my excuse is for forgetting to blog. I got distracted with WriteOnCon, reading, my sister visiting…I don’t know. Maybe I’m just lazy. Either way, I’m here now, and this is what I’ve been up to the last two months.

I finished my manuscript!

At 70,840 words, the first draft of The Sword of the Witch is COMPLETE! I’ve got a list of revisions I want to make, but I’m happy.

I’m participating in Camp NaNoWriMo next month with an hourly goal. Next month, I plan to brainstorm, research, and plot two different NEW stories and maybe work on some Sword of the Witch revisions!

I read a ton of books!

I read twelve books in February and seventeen in March. Ember in the Ashes is incredible! Sabaa Tahir wrote perfection! I loved Elias. And OMG THE THIRD TRIAL! Just read the book. Do it. I was really surprised that I enjoyed Ready Player One as much as I did. It was funny and kept me on the edge of my seat even though I knew the ending. I haven’t seen the movie yet but am really excited about it!

I discovered Rainbow Rowell this month and WOW. I read Carry On TWICE. In a row. Back to back. And I already want to read it again. But that’s mostly because I recently finished Fangirl by Rowell, and the two books are connected. I enjoyed Carry On more, but I loved how much richer the story became because of Fangirl.

I also got carried away finishing the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I really liked Levana’s story, Fairest, especially because one of the stories I’ll be outlining next month is about a villain!

Tell Me Three Things and The Sidekicks took my by surprise too. I plan on attending a book festival next month and have been basing my TBR on authors I might get to meet there. Julia Buxbaum and Will Kostakis (not to mention Sabaa Tahir, Holly Black, and Leigh Bardugo!!!) will be there, so I read their books. I LOVED them. The Sidekicks is an excellent study in characterization. It is told from three different perspectives, and it’s a goldmine. It also had me sobbing, repeatedly. But don’t be scared, READ IT!

Top three reads of the last two months: An Ember in the Ashes, Carry On, The Sidekicks.

Alright, there have been way too many exclamation points in this post and way too much casual language. I’m excited to catch up tho! Hopefully, I’ll get back into the swing of regular posting! 😀
