Hello February

Quick post to share what I accomplished in January and to name some goals for February!

January: Writing

I wrote 50,000 words of my WIP! It was a struggle there at the end to maintain my quick pace, but thanks to having a shared goal with a few other writers, I was able to see it through!

January: Reading

I read nine books in January. My favorite by far was SHADOWSHAPER by Daniel Jose Older. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black is a very addicting read, which I also highly recommend. I love how dark that one was! Two books I DO NOT RECOMMEND are The Selection and The Magicians. Mainly, The Magicians. Worst book ever.

February Goals: Writing

I want to finish this draft of my WIP this month! I’m currently at 53k words, but am quickly approaching the climax. So this might be a relatively short draft. We’ll see!

I saw today that #PITMAD on Twitter is happening on March 8th. Since I don’t have a whole lot left of my story to write, I’m contemplating making a goal of finishing this draft AND editing it by March 8th so that I can participate! I’m sure I’ll want to revise it more after that, but there’s no harm in goals and getting a jump on things!

February Goals: Reading

My original TBR list for this month looks like this:

I am currently reading The Rogue Queen, On Writing, and Daughter of the Forest. I didn’t take into account what audiobooks I might be listening to this month (I like to have one always on hand), so this list will certainly grow. I’ve already borrowed If I Stay by Gayle Forman but haven’t started it yet.

I blew through An Ember in the Ashes because HOLY CRAP it is amazing! I couldn’t put it down. I LOVE Elias. No point in resisting, I’m going to have to read A Torch Against the Night this month too!!
